Completed GWR / PE or other competitions: GWR Winter Doubles have concluded, league table HERE Gotherington Invitation Doubles competition was held on Sunday 21st April results HERE GWR Singles and Shooting: Pete entered and was knocked out in the bronze quarter-finals of the singles GWR Doubles at Larkhall, no entries from Saxons GWR Vets doubles at Cricklade PC, Jenny and Prue were knocked out in the ¼ Finals of the silver section. Kath and Pete were knocked out in the semi finals of the silver section. PE Euro Cup Round 1 Saturday 28th October 2023 Saxons were drawn against Nomades Berbers at Kenilworth on Saturday 28th October. Saxons lost the 2 triples matches and then lost the 3 pairs matches. Saxons were then drawn against Nomades Gitanos in round 1 of the plate competition. After many emails of trying to arrange a date, Nomades Gitanos conceeded a walkover to Saxons.
The club runs a scores competition on all playing days These are run over the winter months and again over the summer months There is the annual Eileen Mitchell memorial charity trophy competition Other internal competitions are run from time to time such as the Saxons 3-ender We run a singles Challenge ladder We occasionally play friendly matches There are various local, regional and national competitions that individuals or teams can enter Some members join Petanque England (PE) and have access to extra regional and national competitions
Cotswold League Report Saxons Crusaders in the 2024 season are in Division 1 out of 3 divisions after gaining promotion. The teams in Division 1 are Saxons Crusaders, Bassett Allsorts, Cricklade PC, RWB Royals, Boule Hitters, and Nomades Berbers A new team, Saxon Warriors has been entered in division 3 The teams in Division 3 are Saxon Warriors, RWB Bees, Cricklade Magpies, Sherston, Cheltenham U3A, and Nomades Touaregs Next Match Results 1. CPL match result for Sunday 28th April: Crusaders 2 - 3 Cricklade PC played at Cricklade Leisure Centre Crusaders won 2 triples but just lost the 3 doubles games in very wet conditions 2. CPL match result for Saturday 18th May: Boule Hitters 0 - 5 Crusaders at Sherston recreation ground Crusaders won everything comfortably in good sunny conditions 3. CPL match result for Sunday 19th May: Nomades Touaregs 2 - 3 Warriors at Cricklade Leisure Centre Warriors won there first match at their first attempt in the league the score was 1 all after the triples and then winning 2 of the doubles to clinch the win 4. CPL match result for Thursday 23rd May: RWB Bees 2 - 3 Warriors at RWB sports ground Warriors won their 2nd match by winning 1 of the triples and 1 of the doubles leaving John and Prue in the deciding match which Warriors won 5. CPL match result for Sunday 26th May: Crusaders 2 - 3 Bassett Allsorts at Cricklade Leisure Centre It was one all after the 2 triples matches. Then Crusaders could only win 1 of the doubles and so lost on a soggy piste 6. CPL match result for Sunday 2nd June: Warriors 5 - 0 Cheltenham U3A at Cricklade Leisure Centre With squad rotation to give everyone a match, there were some very good close games but their battling qualities showed through to win 5 games to 0 7. CPL match result for Sunday 9th June: Warriors 2 - 3 Cricklade Magpies at Cricklade Hotel and Spa Our closest rivals and with a last minute replacement Warriors were one all after the triples. Then only wining one of the doubles just lost 2 games to 3 8. CPL match result for Wednesday 19th June: Crusaders 0 - 5 RWB Royals at RWB It was a struggle on the pistes at RWB a couple of the pairs did quite well 9. CPL match result for Sunday 23rd June: Warriors 4 - 1 Cricklade Magpies at Cricklade Leisure Centre Our closest rivals and with a last minute covid replacement Warriors were two up after the triples. PE Euro Cup Plate Round 2 Saturday 24th March 2024 Saxons were drawn against Whitnash Windmills Millers at Whitnash. The score after the 2 triples was 1-1. Then Saxons lost 2 of the 3 pairs matches to lose 2-3 overall. But there were some very good matches. Thats the end of the Euro Cup competition for this year.

Friendly Matches Against Faringdon on 24th April 2024 Venue: Cricklade leisure Centre Saxons won 5-0 but this was a traing run for Faringdon players who were new to the game and never played on a different terrain.
